Baroque and Neobaroque Festival 2024

For the fourth year in a row, Ragusa Ibla confirms itself as the location of an event that is certainly very original. The Baroque and Neo-Baroque Festival will be held from 31 May to 2 June and feature a reinterpretation of design, art, photography, fashion, and food in neo-Baroque aesthetic styles.

This year, the festival is being held earlier than usual, with architect Roberto Semprini serving as the master of ceremonies. Visitors can admire the extraordinary Baroque masterpieces in Ragusa Ibla's narrow alleys and steep staircases, including historic buildings like Palazzo Nicastro, Palazzo Cosentini, the former San Vincenzo Ferreri Church, and the Ancient Capuchin Convent. All of this beauty evokes traditions, ancient splendor, and charming atmospheres.

Among the artists who will take part in the event, we highlight the presence of the renowned architect Nigel Coates. He will debut Baroccabilly, a collection of limited edition furniture and lamps blending Baroque and rockabilly styles.

Additionally, Roberto Semprini will present Baroque Mirror, a contemporary reinterpretation of the baroque style through elements such as wonder and decorative excess.

Alessandro Enriquez, the Sicilian designer who will bring his latest collection to the catwalk, deserves a special mention. He will showcase his latest collection at the former church of San Vincenzo Ferreri, near the entrance to the Giardini Iblei.

The festival will also feature theatrical and musical performances, including the Cantus Novo Polyphonic Choir directed by Maestro Giovanni Giaquinta. The repertoire is decidedly eclectic, ranging from Vivaldi to Pooh.
